United Collegiate Umpires to Delay Release of 2021 Umpire Schedules

Mahwah, NJ – September 9, 2020 – Due to continued COVID-19-related uncertainty, United Collegiate Umpires will delay the release of individual umpire schedules to an as-yet-to-be-determined date. Traditionally, UCU Division I conference assignments have been released on October 31, with Division I non-conference, Division III and junior college assignments released on December 31.

UCU Executive Vice President Alex Skandalis stated, “Since inception we have prioritized release of staff umpire schedules well in advance of the upcoming baseball season. This approach provides schedule certainty for umpires and, most important, allows for greater efficiency in responding to the inherent weather-related changes throughout our conference client’s geographical footprint. Despite the delay, our expectations remain that all 2021 schedules will be released in a timely manner, as soon as we possibly can do so.”
