United Collegiate Umpires Appointed North Atlantic Conference Coordinator of Baseball Umpires

 

Mahwah, NJ – July 14, 2021 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) has been appointed North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Coordinator of Baseball Umpires.

“I would like to thank Commissioner Zalot, Associate Commissioner Roy, the athletic directors and members of the NAC search committee for their confidence in our program, demonstrated through this appointment”, stated UCU Executive Vice-President, Alex Skandalis.

Skandalis continued, “We have long-standing relationships with many of the institutions and members of the NAC community through various previous assigning ventures.  We are excited to work with the NAC in our role as their first Coordinator of Baseball Umpires and work to bring a centralized, consistent officiating product to their baseball program.”

“We are excited to move forward with an excellent group of professionals who will enhance the playing experience for student athletes in the NAC,” stated NAC Commissioner Marcella Zalot.

NAC Associate Commissioner, Kate Roy added: “The committee was impressed with Alex [Skandalis] and the entire United Collegiate Umpires team through the search process. They are top-rate professionals who will provide excellent umpiring for NAC Baseball. Our baseball administrators and coaches are excited to work with this team, too.”

Mahwah, NJ – November 26, 2019 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) has been appointed Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League (ABCCL) Coordinator of Baseball Umpires.

“I am extremely excited to welcome the ABCCL into the United Family”, stated UCU Executive Vice-President, Alex Skandalis.

Skandalis continued, “The opportunity for our umpires to work locally in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania during the summer months in a highly competitive collegiate summer league is a huge win for our training and advancement program, the umpires and the ABCCL student-athletes. I look forward to working with Commissioner [Mike] Kolesar, Chief Operating Officer [Brian] Delahant and the various GMs and head coaches in the upcoming season to bring the ABCCL the same level of quality service and officiating we provide to NCAA and NJCAA institutions in the same footprint.”

“Our program, the ABCCL, is excited to announce we are choosing to trust United Collegiate Umpires as our official umpire assignor”, stated ABCCL President, Mike Kolesar. “With our league’s growth in our 2020 season, it is very important we use a program like UCU that has the same passion and dedication as our program.”

Name change signifies new phase in company’s evolution

Mahwah, NJ – August 14, 2017 – The Collegiate Officials Group, LLC (COG) announces its name change to United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) effective immediately.

United Collegiate Umpires has adopted its new name as a statement of the brand value of its services forged with an unwavering vision to create a united northeast baseball identity. Institutions, athletic offices, and staff umpires will experience no change inaccessible, consistent, and open-minded assigning practices, augmented by continuing umpire education throughout Umpire Training and Development Program.

“The renaming of our company signifies the beginning of a new day at United Collegiate Umpires. Our organization has been working diligently on our restructuring. The tireless execution by our team, along with the loyalty of our conference administrators and umpires, has allowed us to complete this phase and begin shifting our focus to growth,” said Alex Skandalis, Executive VP, and Chief Financial Officer.

Skandalis continued, “We believe it is important to recognize the team at United Collegiate Umpires uses the infrastructure established by the Collegiate Officials Group while making minor, yet pivotal personnel changes to improve the capability and integrity of the northeast baseball program.”

“Overseeing this restructuring has been one of my most rewarding efforts in umpiring,” added President/NCAA Super-Regional Umpire, Chris Marshall.
