United Collegiate Umpires Appointed Atlantic East Conference Coordinator of Baseball Umpires

Mahwah, NJ – July 27, 2018 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) has been appointed Atlantic East Conference (AEC) Coordinator of Baseball Umpires.

“We are very much looking forward to this partnership with the Atlantic East Conference”, stated UCU Executive Vice President, Alex Skandalis. “The trust placed in us by the AEC founding members is a testament to the work put in, on and off the field, by our umpires and provides an opportunity for all of us to grow and evolve with this new conference partner.”

Atlantic East Conference Commissioner, Jessica Huntley, stated: “We are excited to partner with United Collegiate Umpires as the first-ever baseball assigning group for the Atlantic East. As we launch our inaugural year, it was important we find the best assigners for our student-athletes, coaches, and teams.”

Huntley continued,“United Collegiate Umpires stood out to our coaches and administrators as the best amongst several qualified candidates. It’s a very exciting time to be a part of the Atlantic East and we are happy to have United Collegiate Umpires onboard.”

Founded in 2014, UCU supervises baseball conferences in Division I (America East, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Northeast Conference), Division III (Atlantic East, Empire 8, Liberty, NEAC, and SUNYAC), NJCAA Region III and XIX, Interstate Collegiate Baseball League, Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball League, New England Collegiate Baseball League, and the New York Collegiate Baseball League. Offering superior continuing umpire education, UCU has participated in the implementation of training programs throughout the country, including several presentations made as part of the NCAA Umpire Improvement Program.

About Atlantic East Conference

The Atlantic East Conference is a Division III league formed of seven founding institutions including Cabrini University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Immaculata University, Marymount University, Marywood University, Neumann University, and Wesley College. The conference is formed to foster athletic competition and cooperation among academically selective, private colleges located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. The geographic focus brings together some of the top colleges in the region, while still allowing for a strong conference of like-minded institutions, all of which integrate competitive athletics into the student-athletes university experience. The Atlantic East will initially sponsor and host championships for 19 sports within the NCAA Division III.
