Factoryville, PA – January 2, 2023 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) has been appointed Coordinator of Baseball Umpires for the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL).

“We are excited to add the Cape Cod Baseball League to the list of outstanding summer leagues assigned by United Collegiate Umpires,” stated UCU President, Chris Marshall. “With this addition, umpires are afforded another exceptional stage to display their talents in support of the CCBL student-athletes and coaches. A special thank you to Chuck Sturtevant and Eric Zmuda for entrusting the league’s umpire program to us. We look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”.

As the CCBL takes their umpire program in a new direction, Commissioner, Eric Zmuda is excited: “The Cape League is excited to be partnering with UCU, and I look forward to working with Chris [Marshall], Alex [Skandalis], and everyone at United Collegiate Umpires, as we embark on our new agreement with their umpire group.”

United Brand Chief Executive Officer, Alex Skandalis, cites the benefits of this partnership from a developmental perspective: “The new partnership provides additional access to technological resources allowing us to monitor, evaluate, train, and promote umpires with more tangible evidence than ever before. About The Cape Code Baseball League

Founded in 1885, The Cape Cod Baseball League is a premier collegiate summer baseball league, as one of six MLB players have played in the league. Following a decade (1974-84) of using aluminum bats, the CCBL became the first collegiate summer league to use wooden bats in 1985.

The Cape Cod Baseball League has a 44-game regular-season schedule and a postseason comprised of best-of-three quarterfinals, semifinals, and a championship series.

Mahwah, NJ – January 8, 2018 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) has been appointed New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Coordinator of Baseball Umpires, starting in 2018.

“The NECBL provides opportunities throughout the New England geographical footprint for our umpires to compliment the administrators and student-athletes who have made this a summer league respected throughout the country”, stated UCU President, Chris Marshall.

Marshall continued, “I could not be more excited that our in-state umpires will be on diamonds this summer throughout the NECBL and many from outside the state will be exposed to this prestigious brand of baseball for the first time”

“The New England Collegiate Baseball League is pleased to be partnering with UCU this coming season…” stated NECBL Commissioner, Sean McGrath.

McGrath continued, “…with our league filled with the best college baseball players in America, it requires talented and experienced umpires who work the same level of competition during the spring college season, including umpires from Division I,[Division] II, [Division] III postseason and College World Series.”

After beginning his NCAA career in 1996, Chris graduated from the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring. Instead of pursuing a professional career, he returned to NCAA baseball. This decision has resulted in significant accomplishment as Chris is now widely respected nationally throughout the NCAA baseball community.

His work has resulted in extensive post-season recognition: The 1999 and 2000 Junior College World Series, 2005 Division III College World Series, seven Division III Regionals, two Division II Regionals, seven Division I Regionals, and four Division I Super Regionals (2014–2017).

Altamonte Springs, FL – October 16, 2017 – United Collegiate Umpires (UCU) President, Chris Marshall has been appointed Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coordinator of Baseball Umpires, starting in 2018.

“The MAAC holds a special meaning for me as it was the first Division I conference staff I was a member,” stated UCU President, Chris Marshall.

Marshall continued, “I know firsthand the high level of play in the MAAC requires consistent, exceptional umpiring and look forward to assembling a conference staff committed in the same manner represented by the student-athletes on and off the field.”

“We are eager to begin a new partnership with United Collegiate Umpires as the MAAC Baseball Coordinator of Umpires,” stated MAAC Assistant Commissioner for Championships, Dedra Palmer.
