A 1979 graduate of the Bill Kinnamon Umpire School, Warren is a founding member of the UNY CBUA. The UNY CBUA consolidated all levels of collegiate umpiring in Upstate New York, providing the backbone of training and scheduling.

Warren, an accomplished umpire, worked the Junior Olympic Baseball Super Series in 1987, an alternate in 1989, and served as the Umpire-in-Chief (UIC) in 1990. He also worked the World University Games in 1993 and the World Junior Championships in 1995 and 2002.

After umpiring nine (9) Division I regionals and numerous Division I, II and III tournaments he retired from collegiate umpiring after working the plate in the final game of the 2010 Division III World Series.

Warren trains and evaluates umpires with the UCU, as well as assigning games for Region 3 NJCAA.
